Research Analyst
Senior Analyst, Lowell, MA (USA)
Common Sense Advisory's Senior Analysts help clients exploit and develop language technologies and service models for global competitive advantage. They think, write, and speak about how language technologies and services will affect global business, finance, and society, with a focus on business globalization and domestic multiculturalization, and supporting services and technology. Senior Analysts advise executives at technology and service suppliers, corporations, investment management firms, start-ups, and government institutions. They conduct research through primary interviews and secondary sources; they deliver their findings through written reports, client-specific analyses, blog entries, public presentations to a variety of audiences, and frequent one-to-one interactions with clients. Responsibilities: - Meet frequently with leaders at start-ups and established suppliers providing language services or language-related technologies to understand and critique their strategies, technologies, products, and execution.
- Consult with clients to apply Common Sense Advisory’s findings to their company-, product-, and industry-specific issues.
- Initiate and lead the development of written research reports, collaborating intensely with other team members, and update past research reports as events dictate.
- Establish a presence as an influential speaker and thinker at conferences, among public sector institutions and industry associations, and in the press.
Specifics: - Manage two to three major topic areas, and assist in other topics.
- Develop up to 6 reports and 12 quick takes per year, from premises to delivered product, following the Style Guide and Research Process.
- Develop presentations based on research reports.
- Write an average of two Global Watchtower entries (blog) per month.
- Produce all research deliverables on-time.
- Help manage CSA’s knowledge assets, including online notes from primary research calls captured and catalogued in CSA’s research folder.
- Lead consulting projects.
- Consult with clients as needed or proactively.
- Train self.
- Train junior staff.
- Make internal presentations to Sales and Marketing staff.
- Develop and give workshops.
Requirements: - Five or more years’ experience as a management consultant and/or market research professional, accountable for relationships with senior executives.
- Demonstrated experience in independently scoping, planning, executing, and following up on consulting projects and/or market research studies.
- A track record of driving business change by presenting complex ideas, distilled into simple and provocative concepts, to C-level executives.
- Experience with leading teams and projects to deliver results under pressure.
- Deep intellectual curiosity about the impact of emerging technology on organizations of all kinds.
- Solid business instincts and a general management, line-of-business orientation.
- Superior listening, critical thinking, and writing skills, as well as memorable presentation skills. Ability to speak articulately and think on your feet. A good sense of humor is a major plus.
- A strong record of academic achievement; MBA, other Master’s degree, or Ph.D. is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative; ability to forecast trends and to develop and test research hypotheses.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate a network of valuable contacts.
- Ability to travel 25% to 50% of the time.
